12,800 more to go

Anyone checking out Jim's SPOT track today will know that he did quite a bit of paddling. He got in a lot of miles today.   Haven't heard from yet tonight so I know he's probably all tuckered out.  He's camped on the eastern side of the canal between Choctawhatchee Bay and Apalachicola, just east of Panama City.  Winds tomorrow are supposed to be SE at about 15-20 knots, with a chance of T-storms through the night and the bay just south of Jim will be rough.  Give the guy a break!!!    A gentleman who co-authored the second edition of Sea Kayaking in Florida emailed yesterday and today, offering to do some paddling with Jim when he gets down near the Big Bend area.  He also offered to provide shuttle service for resupply and the chance for Jim to get in a couple of nights of inside rest, with shower and laundry facilities.  How sweet it is!  So wonderful to hear from such nice folks!  Will pass those messages along to Jim when we next talk and I know he'll be very appreciative of the offers.  Big MO, our camper trailer, will be here at Beck's Fish Camp until early on 11 May when I'll be taking us down to Wakulla Springs to meet up with some friends there.  Don't know which way I'll go then.  National parks are a good bet for us with the trailer, as we have a Senior Pass for stays in them. Hopefully I'll be able to find space in Apalachicola National Park.   That way my travel expenses while providing shore support for Jim are kept to a minimum.  With gasoline at almost $4 a gallon, that's a definite priority!  Don't forget that Mother's Day is coming up soon, and at least say a prayer for mothers everywhere.  Happy Paddling everybody.  We'll be back online tomorrow.
